National Association for Business Economics
The Hawaii Economic Association (HEA) is a non-profit organization of professionals from a broad spectrum of Hawaii businesses and organizations. The mission of the HEA is to promote public awareness and understanding of economics and to support the professional growth of its members by providing a forum to discuss Hawaii's economic issues and to interact with other professionals.

The HEA holds a monthly lunch meeting, on the last Thursday of every month, at the Plaza Club (20th floor, Pioneer Plaza building) in downtown Honolulu, although other venues have been used. Meetings are scheduled to commence at 12 noon, with registration beforehand. Guest speakers usually begin their 20 - 30 minute presentations around 12:30, followed by a question and answer period. Members of the news media are always welcome and invited to attend. A full-day Annual Conference is also held, usually in April or May.

HEA is affiliated with the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) and serves as its Hawaii Chapter. Membership information, as well as an application form, can be obtained by contacting Kazuo Shirakawa, Vice President - Membership.
